3.1 Hierarchical Structure

The hierarchical structure of your department is given in Annex E.

3.2 Dissemination of Safety Information

The department head and the DSO shall ensure that the appropriate safety information is brought to the attention of all the members of the department.

To this end, whenever they consider it necessary, they shall organise a meeting with the group leaders, the TSOs and all the members of the department with specific safety responsibilities (see list in Annex F). It is recommended that such meetings take place at least once per year.

These meetings shall be chaired by the DSO and their aim is:

• to bring attention to any changes or additions that could appropriately be made to CERN’s safety rules;
• to study ways of improving safety in the division;
• to discuss current safety problems;
• to discuss the accident statistics for the previous period;
• to analyse the reports drawn up following safety inspections and the follow-up actions taken;
• to present the annual update of the departmental safety plan.

3.3 Territorial Responsibilities

Annex G contains a list of the buildings, installations and equipment which fall under your department’s responsibility. It also shows the names of the TSOs and/or persons in charge of the installations or equipment.

3.4 Relations with Other Divisions

Annexe A lists the safety officers (DSOs, RSOs, CSOs, FGSOs, etc.) of all the CERN divisions.

The role of Safety Commission is to provide the whole Organization with expertise and assistance in matters of safety; its organisational structure and a list of the services it provides are given in Annexe B, together with the relevant telephone numbers.
The safety inspections are carried out by EN-GMS-SIS.
